I’ve worked at Warburtons for 14 years now and can really sense the family feel in the office, especially when I get to work with great people in different part of the business every day.

I started my journey in the Category Development team within the commercial function working closely with our retail partners and internal customer planning teams to provide strategic insight and direction to help grow bakery sales.

More recently I moved over to our customer sales team leading and managing the business plan for one of our key retail partners.

My role is so varied but essentially involves developing joint business plans which aim to drive category growth, demand planning to ensure customers are getting great service and being involved in face-to-face negotiations.

I am also responsible for growing our portfolio sales within my retail partner; one of the ways in which I do this is by creating tailored promotional strategies with strong execution plans to drive sales for both businesses. A recent career highlight has been turning our iconic 800g Toastie loaf bright pink during breast cancer awareness month to raise ‘dough’ for Asda’s Tickled Pink charity.

It makes me smile when I see our bright orange vans on the road, especially knowing how much meticulous effort goes behind getting that freshy squeezed loaf on shelf.

My own family also love it when I bring bakery samples home to try!

My role is focused on the service we provide to our customers. That involves working with our commercial colleagues, customers and the distribution and manufacturing teams to provide the best service to our customers every single day.

The thing that I love most about my job is that we have so many teams and people to work with – it’s always interesting, always a new challenge, and there is always plenty to focus on.

I have been lucky to be involved in some big cross collaboration customer projects in the last 2 years that are hopefully helping the business transform over the coming years to remain at the front of fresh bakery. These are hugely complex, but very rewarding to be part of!

Warburtons is a brilliant brand, and produces some of the best products that people everywhere love – which always makes you feel proud. The people we all work with are just great. Everyone everywhere is happy to help, always keen to do the best for the business and it really does feel like a work family.

My role centres around managing the Warburtons Gluten Free commercial team. My role means that I have overall responsibility for the Free From P&L to deliver sustained growth and profit, setting the strategy for the Free From business, and driving innovation. I engage with external and internal stakeholders within my role, identifying and sharing new opportunities for our gluten free range.

I love the variety of my role – no day is the same. I also love that we are able to bring enjoyment and satisfaction to our consumers who follow a restricted diet with our Warburtons Gluten Free range.

My highlight from my 14 years at Warburtons – growing the Warburtons Gluten Free brand from very humble beginnings to the number 1 position in gluten free bread that it is now.

I work with our retail customers to develop the right bakery category strategy and help them drive long-term growth. Our aim is to improve product ranging, promotions, in-store layout and much more to create a better bakery shopping experience. As well as supporting our customers, I also work with other Warburtons teams internally to ensure that our brand plans are right for the bakery shopper.

The variety my role gives me means I will interact with a mix of customers and colleagues daily and, because we focus on what’s right for the shopper, we always have a common interest. It’s more than reviewing trends and writing plans though, the real satisfaction comes from walking in to a supermarket and seeing those plans you’ve worked hard on come to life.

Working at Warburtons has given me an opportunity to be involved in lots of exciting projects. I joined as part of our Tesco business unit and during that time supported them on a key strategic review of their bakery category. A huge cross-functional effort that was launched with real success.

Everyone knows, and loves, the Warburtons range of products, so it‘s brilliant to be work for a business that is a part of daily life for so many families. The ‘family’ value is also central to everything the business does, so it’s a great place to work in a team environment with a lot of supportive colleagues. At the same time there is a lot of ambition – you have a real opportunity to make a difference. And last, but certainly not least, the samples are pretty good too!

I work in our Brand Marketing team, and my role is to oversee product and pack activities across our family of over 60 bakery products; making sure we have the right product range and that we present it in the best possible way for consumers. This includes packaging redesign from small tweaks to complete overhauls, product renovation and our ongoing program of seasonal packs. 

I love that my role is busy and varied, with a perfect blend of creative and analytical work. My favourite thing is seeing something on shelf in a store for the first time, and even better – seeing people actually pick it up! It can take months from start to finish for a new product or pack design to reach a supermarket shelf, it’s one of the best bits when your projects actually become reality. 

Warburtons is a company with a really good heart and strong values. I think the way it feels to work here is just how you would imagine it would be from the outside, which must be a very rare quality. Warburtons is also a business with big ambitions and potential and I have seen it grow and change so much during my 15 years here, every year is busier and more interesting than the last!

I am responsible for two teams based in the R&I Centre, namely the Technical Trainers and the Finished Product Assessment team. I am also responsible for the Evidence Led workstream, which forms part of our Unbeatable Quality strategy.

The Technical Training team are responsible for designing and delivering technical training materials for the business, which consist of a blend of online and face to face solutions, designed to develop / enhance the technical knowledge and skills of our people.

Our Finished Product Assessment team coordinate and provide a range of objective assessments, which provide valuable data relating to the quality and consistency of our finished products.

Within my team we also have a dedicated Data Analyst & Researcher, who enables and provides detailed insight into the results obtained within our laboratory function and within our bakeries. We share this information with the business and utilise it to make data driven decisions in key areas, with the aim of enabling Warburtons to continually strengthen the delivery of unbeatable quality.

By Warburtons standards, I may still be relatively new, but having been here a few years now, I’ve had the opportunity to make a real impact. My role has also grown to encompass both warehouse and driver operational training, ensuring that our teams across distribution are equipped with the skills they need to succeed.

I am accountable for distribution training, leading a team that coaches new starters, develops our existing workforce, and delivers mandatory training to maintain legal compliance. Beyond that, we continue to build and refine a training strategy that is innovative, people-focused, and best-in-class.

What I love most about working at Warburtons is the team’s willingness to embrace change and their unwavering commitment to delivering the best possible training. Their dedication makes me incredibly proud to be part of this organisation.

There have been many highlights, but one that stands out is the significant improvement in training efficiencies—streamlining our processes while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

I have been with Warburtons for 7 years, 8 if you count my placement year! I attended Sheffield Hallam university to study a food science degree. During this time, in my third year I had a year in industry and was lucky enough to bag a position at Warburtons. This was a great insight into the world of work, bread, and crumpets. I could see what a great company Warburtons is to work for, and I wanted to be part of this when entering the world of work full time. Therefore, after University my mission was to come back to Warburtons. I was able to secure a position at Warburtons straight after completing my degree, and I haven’t looked back since.

I am responsible for the quality management of the flour and ingredients used across our business. This can include anything from meeting our wheat growers to discuss harvest performance, monitoring wheat and flour intake for mills and bakeries or investigating new raw materials that could advance our product quality. The role is exciting, challenging, diverse and gives me lots of autonomy, which is great for development and exposure.

Warburtons has always been a part of my life. Coming from Bolton, I used to smell the ‘bready’ fumes when driving past our Bolton bakery. It is great to work for a business that I know and love as a consumer, along with thousands of others. The family value is integral to life at Warburtons, and this makes the environment a fantastic place to work. Nothing ever feels like too much for anyone! At the same time, the business is focused on producing quality products and are more ambitious every year. This presents exciting new challenges and opportunity to make a real difference.

My highlight has been the opportunity to travel to Canada to assist with the harvest change process. This was a fantastic opportunity that allowed me to see another arm of the business. The work that is completed during this trip is essential to the ongoing maintenance of Warburtons quality ingredients and products. But more than this, the highlight of working within Warburtons is the development opportunities, the people and the quality focus the business upholds.

I have worked at Warburtons for 15 years. I manage a small team in our Enfield bakery that is very customer focused. We try to make to sure the customer gets the product quality they expect from Warburtons, consistently. Product improvement and complaint mitigation are large parts of the role, but because we have a good understanding of the technical processes involved in baking, we also play a key part in supporting the manufacturing teams in assessing and root causing issues that impact our production lines and can ultimately impact the customer experience.

I really enjoy the fact that no two days are alike. We have a varied product line and so many processes that need to be right before products leave the bakery, we are constantly monitoring and adapting these processes to deliver the best products.

I’ve been fortunate enough to join a technical team with a lot of experience and a lot of expertise. This has translated to some really good performance in our internal quality competitions in recent years and number of awards.
